Internship Day 4

Today I got to hang out with a bunch of well-known jewelry artists, like Nina Sajet, Carmen Hauser, Ulrich Reithofer, Juliane Brandes, and Tore Svensson. I helped them set up for the new jewelry show that is opening this Sunday. It was pretty cool, except for when anyone called out "Nina," both of us would look up and say, "what?" I'm exhausted now from running up and down stairs all day, carrying heavy display cases, preparing lunch, and making coffee and tea for everyone. I didn't take very many photos today, but definitely check out the artists' work because it's amazing.

Great idea, right? It's like bubble wrap, except its bubbles of water that you put in your freezer, and when you pop them, ice cubes come out.

Internship Day 3

I feel like I've kind of settled in to the flow of things here. Today I cleaned the gallery, packaged jewelry, helped prepare for a new show opening, tried on expensive jewelry, met Tore Svensson and Karin Seufert, worked on furnishing the new apartment, shared Theo's chocolate with Dutch people, and most importantly, ate a Kinder Surprise.

The new apartment is the top floor. Marzee is right behind it.

Internship Day 2

Coffee seems to be the most important element of Galerie Marzee. Today I learned how to make espresso. And clean the espresso machine. I feel like a real intern.

I also swept floors, packaged items to ship, researched some stuff, prepared lunch, and tried to write English reviews for booked printed in Dutch. It was an interesting day.

Internship Day 1

Today was my first day as an intern at Galerie Marzee. It was a pretty relaxed day at the gallery. Everyone I met was very friendly, but as it was the second day back after the holidays, there wasn't much for me to do. For the first few hours I wondered around the gallery looking at all the incredibly jewelry. After lunch, they put me to work for the afternoon, making a list of contact information for American art schools. At 6 pm, the gallery closed for the night, and I left and stopped at a grocery store on the way home.
